Cop Hit By Limousine
On Thursday, Feb. 21, Police Officer Suzan Horan - age 24 - was hit by a limousine on route 41 and George as she was getting rubber gloves from her trunk to pick up a dead cat in the road.
The 1988 limo pinned the officer between her rear bumper, and the limousines front bumper. She suffered a broken leg and severe injuries to the other. Horan was transported to Milwaukee Condel Medical - around 3 a.m. - from the fire department that had initially rescued her from the scene.
After an estimated 8 hours of surgery the doctors announced that "while her left leg was in stable condition, her right leg had critical damage." The left leg suffered from multiple fractures - but was savable - the left leg on the other hand had to be amputated for fear of too much blood loss.
As of now, the limousine driver has only been charged with failure to reduce speed. He tested negative to a breath analyzer, and they're said to be analyzing the length of the skid marks to determine in fact how fast he was going. The limo belonged to a company called Elite Limo, and is currently being questioned. The limousine driver has been released on a $100 bond.
The Police Chief has stated that Horan - a daughter of two - is in good spirits and is looking forward to her release from the hospital. This tragic accident has caused uproar in the police community, and the case is said to be investigated to the fullest extent.
